Adding Your Taxidermy Studio to Apple Maps

Apple has just opened Apple Maps Connect allowing small business owners to add their business to the Apple maps directory. Signing up for the service is easy but category options are minimal in comparison to Google or Bing Maps and doesn't include a "taxidermist" option. However you can assign up to three categories to your business and I'll recommend the three you should assign your business to. In less than an hour you can set up your listing in Apple maps and it doesn't even require any picture uploads!

Step by Step Guide

Start by visiting Appple Maps Connect and log in using your Apple ID if you have one. If not, click on “Get an Apple ID” and follow the instructions. Be sure to use a secure password.

Step 1:

After logging in, click "Add My Business" to get started.

Step 2:

Search the Apple's existing directory to see if your business is already listed. If your business is not listed on Yelp, it probably won’t be listed in the results. If that is the case, just click “Add New Business”.

Is your business already on Apple Maps?

Step 3:

Provide the contact information for your business. When you click continue Apple will ask to make a call to verify your business (only method available). Click "Call Me Now" to verify your business. You cannot save or submit your listing without verification. If you cannot complete verification do not go any further until you can.

Step 4:

Apple will make a guess to the location of your business. Just click and drag the red pin to your front door and click continue.

Step 5:

Add the categories for your business. I recommend the following:

Category 1
Local Services
Category 2
Shopping: Sporting Goods
Category 3
Active Life: Fishing

Type “taxidermists” in the suggested category option, maybe if enough people recommend it they will add taxidermists as a category.

Step 6:

Add your hours and click continue.

Step 7:

Link your business' other online accounts. Apple allows you to link the maps listing to your website, Facebook, Yelp, and Twitter. Click continue to review the information you entered before submitting.

Step 8:

After you have double checked all the information click “Submit to Apple”.
